Welcome to St. Matthew Catholic Church and Newman Center. We are a diverse community of believers who love Jesus Christ and wish to share His love with others. Nourished by the Word and sustained by the Eucharist, we recognize that our purpose, in the words of Pope Francis, is to “see clearly that the thing the church needs most today is the ability to heal wounds and to warm the hearts of the faithful; it needs nearness, proximity.” May you find when you worship here, that Christ is alive, that no one walks alone, and all are welcome!

Greetings St Matthew Parishioners, Tomorrow we celebrate Thanksgiving. Even if this day were not already a secular holiday, it is plausible that the Church would have created one! How appropriate it is to gather around the Lord’s table with our parish family on Thanksgiving Day before we gather around the dining room table with our extended families. After all, the Greek word eukharistia means “thanksgiving.” Therefore, as we assemble tomorrow about the altar of thanksgiving, let us lift our voices in praise and thanks to the One who is the ultimate source of all we have. AMEN. Friendly reminder that Mass tomorrow, Thursday, is at 9am. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will not be offered on Saturday, but will return next Saturday, December 8th, at 4pm. Other confession times include in between then, 7pm Tuesday evening, 5pm Wednesday evening, and Friday at 11:30am. No matter how and where you spend Thanksgiving, may it be a time of giving thanks to God for the countless ways he has and continues to bless us. Reflecting on where he has brought us from and where he is bringing us to in our faith journey. When we return to Mass again on Sunday, we then begin that period of time together where we prepare for the Advent coming of Christ.
